MCS welcomes Nicholas Follett as a music and choir teacher at the Jr./Sr. building. A Norwich, New York native, Follett says he discovered his passion for music during his high school years, when he immersed himself in both band and choir. After graduating high school in 2008, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education at Mansfield University, followed by a Master’s Degree in Music Performance with a focus on saxophone at Binghamton University. While at Binghamton, he also studied voice alongside opera graduate students.
Before joining MCS, Follett taught at Ticonderoga Central School District. He says he is passionate about fostering a positive, inspiring environment where students can improve their vocal skills while developing a deeper appreciation for music. He believes music education shapes young minds, builds confidence and unites students in powerful ways.
When he isn’t teaching, Follett can often be found on stage or in the orchestra pit. Most recently he performed in summer productions of Cinderella and The Addams Family.
Question: Do you have a philosophy or mission statement?
“I believe that everyone should experience music in multiple disciplines and we should strive to be better today than we were yesterday.”
Question: Do you have any favorite books or hobbies?
“I enjoy reading multiple books a year, but one of my favorite series is The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare. When I’m not reading, I stay active through both recreational swimming and competing at USA Masters swim meets.”
