Earlier this year, the district welcomed a familiar face as the new Director of Facilities. John Youmans is a 1987 graduate, who went on to earn a degree in psychology from Syracuse University in 1992. After living and working in cities like Boston, Raleigh and Rochester, he returned to Middleburgh in 2012. He has been an active member of the community ever since.
Youmans has a deep personal connection to the school, noting that his grandmother, a 1917 graduate, was also part of the MCS staff. He emphasizes the importance of preserving the school’s history and architecture while also ensuring the facilities are brought up to modern standards. He says he is very thankful to lead a great team.
Additionally, Youmans has served the community in numerous ways. He has been a member of the Middleburgh Town Board for more than six years, currently as town supervisor. He has been a committee chair for BSA Pack 30 and volunteered as an assistant coach for Little League.
