This National AG Week, Middleburgh Central Schools are proud to announce the creation of an FFA Chapter here at MCS! A presentation for 7th and 8th graders on March 19th focused on what FFA is and how they can participate, while a presentation for 9th-12th graders covered what FFA is and careers and pathways they can pursue through it.
The new FFA Chapter will be coupled with a student-driven Agricultural program, designed to enhance what students are already being taught at MCS. Through agricultural education, students are provided opportunities for leadership development, personal growth, and career success. The agricultural education curriculum framework includes three major components: classroom/laboratory instruction (contextual learning), supervised agricultural experience programs (work-based learning), and student leadership organizations (National FFA Organization).
This is a program our students wanted, and they worked hard to get it, petitioning the Board of Education for the chance to take agriculture classes.
