The community is invited to attend the Middleburgh CSD’s Festival of the Arts and Technology at the Jr/Sr High School on Friday, June 9. This event is a collaboration between the music, art, technology, drama, and agriculture departments and highlights students’ work throughout the 2023-24 school year.
Modern Band students have been preparing a varied repertoire of music. There will also be an Open Mic portion of the evening where students, staff and alumni can sign up to perform. Sign up in advance with music teacher Sarah Tomic to perform. All music will be performed at the front of the Jr/Sr High building beginning at 6 p.m.
Art teacher Zoe Santoro will display student work in the school’s front hallway.
Technology teacher Scott Gray will have technology displays in the cafeteria from 3-8 p.m. There will be rocket launches in the soccer field from 3-5 p.m. and CO2 car races in the cafeteria from 5-7 p.m.
Teacher Mollie Burgett will have an Ecosystem Fair in room 138.
Students from the Future Farmers of America, led by agricultural teacher Carmen Fagnani will present a petting zoo.
Food will be available at the drama club concession stand and through High on the Hog. A portion of the proceeds from the latter will benefit the MCS Band.
The evening will culminate with the premiere of the drama club film “Beyond Middleburgh,” written and performed by Middleburgh Drama Club students under the direction of drama club advisor Marissa Lombardo and Tomic. The film follows the music set and is expected to begin between 8 and 8:30 p.m.
