Sixth grade student Casey Morgan is the winner of the Annual Middleburgh Spelling Bee. Morgan moves to the next round, which is the Capital Region Spelling Bee. Fourth grader Mae Jenkins is the alternate.
This year, the regional spelling bee will be an online competition. The date, time and details of how that will work have not been released. We will pass that information to you when it’s available.
After the regionals, the state level finalists will advance to compete nationally. Last spring, in the height of the pandemic, the Scripps National Spelling Bee was cancelled due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19. The only other time the national finals were cancelled was during World War II.
