Fire Prevention Day at Middleburgh Elementary School was filled with vital safety awareness tips for Pre-K through grade 6 students. Through interactive activities and demonstrations, students learned how to prevent fires and what to do if they see a fire. Students also learned more about the methods firefighters use to fight fires and save lives.
On Oct. 13, members of the Huntersland, Middleburgh, Town of Broome,Tri-Village and West Fulton fire departments arrived with trucks, equipment and learning aids to create hands-on learning for the children.
The firefighters educated students on fire safety practices for the home, the school and the community. Sparky, the official mascot of the National Fire Protection Association, visited classrooms and helped the youngest students understand vital safety concepts.
