Students in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club led a project that will bring warmth and cheer to many local children. Partnering with Schoharie-Otsego County Community Maternity Services, students organized Project Night Night gift packages for 60 children.
Each package included pajamas, a blanket, a book, and a stuffed animal or pillow. The donations came from MCS faculty and staff.
Participating in the project gave FBLA students the opportunity to ensure that each recipient feels cared for.
“I feel better knowing that some kids who don’t have much, will get these presents,” said freshman Cecilia S. Classmate Vivian C. noted that it was also an opportunity to see generosity in action-”It’s nice seeing people’s willingness to give back to their community.”
That’s an important lesson for FBLA students, said advisor Denise Colistra. “It’s important to give back to your community, and it’s important for the kids to witness how much our community cares.”
Although the work involved in preparing the gifts is complete, the lesson will stay with students.
“It feels good to know that less fortunate kids can wake up and have something extra for Christmas,” concluded junior Trey R.
