As part of the work of the Front Courtyard Committee, Middleburgh Central School District brought in an arborist to assess the health of the trees on the high school property. Her report indicated the recent severe windstorm jeopardized the life of an already unhealthy tree and recommended it be removed.
“Trees shouldn’t form like this normally,” said Lianna Walsh. “A normal branch union should come together in a U-shape, not a V-shape. And when roots circle around the trunk they are restricting the flow of water and nutrients.”
It is imperative that the tree be taken care of quickly. We will be moving forward with these safety precautions to protect the school’s students, staff, and visitors.
