Balancing books and sports takes serious dedication; our scholar-athletes are proving they can shine in the classroom and as a team.
This fall, three MCS varsity teams earned the prestigious Scholar-Athlete Team Recognition by the New York Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). NYSPHSAA team recognition denotes that the team’s average GPA for 75% or more of the roster is greater than or equal to 90. Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Soccer, Varsity Golf and Volleyball teams for earning this achievement.
Athletic Director Gregg Johns noted that students receive support from multiple sources to help them succeed.
Our student-athletes’ performance in the classroom is a testament to their respective families, in addition to the commitment from the MCS faculty, staff and administrators,” Johns said. “Discipline on the field, court, and in the classroom is something we are very proud of.”
Additionally, individual team members with a 90 or greater GPA are named an Individual Scholar-Athlete by NYSPHSAA. They are:
