Dear MCS Families,
We hope you and your children have settled into the school year nicely and are comfortable with how things are going. Middleburgh Central School District is doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our students, staff and families. Keeping our facilities disinfected, wearing masks indoors, and other COVID-19 prevention protocols outlined in the district’s mitigation plan are actions we have been taking and will continue to take.
The most up-to-date school-related COVID-19 information, including reported cases, can be found on our website. There are two ways to get to it. It’s a link on the alert bar at the top of the website and also on the About Us page. We had our first reported individual with a positive COVID-19 test yesterday. Instead of emailing letters to all families when cases are reported, we will only notify the people who could be impacted, however, we will add the case to the positive cases notification on our COVID-19 information page.
Another point we want to drive home is that it is important to make the same self-care health assessments as last year and keep your child home when they are sick. It is correct that you no longer are required to fill out a daily health attestation form before arriving at school, but use those same checks to guide your decisions on making an informed choice on the status of your health. Staying home when sick is a crucial element of our plan to keep all of our students in school.
Our nurses, Jen Adams and Janet Ferrara have developed guidelines to help answer questions parents and guardians may have about what to do in the event of an illness or suffering from allergies.
- If a student has any signs of illness, please keep them home from school.
- It is important to make an appointment with your PCP or the provider at SBHC. Provide documentation of your visit.
- If your child has allergies, a note is required from their PCP.
- If a student is sent home from school with any symptoms of COVID, a COVID test should be done and the student must be kept home until test results are received.
COVID-19 symptoms:
- nasal congestion and runny nose
- cough
- a temperature of greater than or equal to 100 degrees
- feeling feverish or have chills
- loss of taste and smell
- headache
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- sore throat
- shortness of breath or trouble breathing
- muscle pains or body aches
