Dear MCS families,
The district learned today, November 4, that a staff member from the Middleburgh Jr. Sr. High School has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual has been on a Department of Health issued quarantine since October 26, and has followed COVID-19 protocols in accordance with the district’s safety plan.
We are working closely with the Schoharie County Department of Health. Out of an abundance of caution, one high school student has been placed on quarantine until Monday, November 9. The health department has not recommended the district take any further action at this time.
It is important to note that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive. We will continue to communicate with families and staff as quickly as possible in the event we need to take additional measures.
Middleburgh Central School District continues to thoroughly clean and disinfect all buildings on campus, in accordance with requirements from the New York State Department of Health and the CDC. This instance reminds us of how important it is for all of us to do our part by wearing a mask, social distancing, washing our hands, and avoiding group gatherings.
We are confident that with our vigilance in following the guidelines and our respect for one another, we can help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Brian Dunn
Superintendent of Schools
