Wednesday, May 4 at 6:00 p.m., the district will conduct an open public hearing on the use of repair reserve funds and on the school budget proposal.
The hearing will be followed by an opportunity to meet the three Board of Education candidates running on the May 17 ballot. There are two open board seats. The candidates: Sean Lawton, Debra Bechtold, and Vicki Hoerz will be available to take questions. Interested community members are encouraged to attend.
On April 13, the Board of Education approved the proposed $23.8 million dollar budget that increases spending by 3.88 percent, or $889,137 from the current year, and includes a tax levy increase of $50,270 or 0.5 percent. Since the tax levy increase—the total amount of money to be raised through property taxes—is less than the district’s maximum allowable levy limit of 2.31 percent, the proposed budget needs a simple majority vote to be approved. Voters will also be asked to vote on a proposition for the anticipated purchase of three school buses.
The school budget and board vote is May 17 from 12-9PM at the Jr. / Sr. High School Gym Lobby.
Voters are eligible to cast their ballot absentee if out of town or unable to vote in person due to illness, disability, duties related to the primary care of ill or disabled individuals, being admitted to and a patient in the hospital, or the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
