May 5, 2017
On Wednesday, May 3, the Middleburgh
Central School District Board of Education approved the district
calendar for the 2017-18 school year. The calendar is now
available for download online (PDF); if you encounter
difficulties accessing this file, please
contact the
district to have the document provided in an alternative
format.
Following the calendar changes that were
necessitated by this year’s severe winter weather, the
administrative team worked carefully to stay ahead of potential
calendar changes that may be needed in the next school year.
March 30, 2018 (Good Friday) and Spring
Recess (April 2-6, 2018) have been set as contingent recess
days. Should the school need to use more than the state-allowed
number of emergency closure days next year, the district will
provide an update to all families as soon as possible about
which of the contingent recess days would become full
instructional days to make up for any shortfall in instructional
time. If the district does not go over its allotted number of
emergency closure days, these days will remain recess days for
all students. The district will keep families up-to-date on any
calendar changes throughout 2017-18.
One-Hour Early Release Days will continue
to be held throughout next school year. Please pay careful
attention to these dates as they are marked on the calendar, as
some fall on the second Wednesday of a month, while others fall
on the third Wednesday of a month. These early-release days have
provided staff members with critical professional development
time throughout 2016-17, and the administrative team is excited
to provide these opportunities for staff members again next year
to continue their positive work in curriculum, learning targets,
other activities that help enhance academics across MCS.
If families have any questions regarding
the 2017-18 calendar, please reach out to the district office at
