Please remember as the school year is drawing to a close, students will no longer be able to charge lunches as of Friday, June 7. Please take a moment to check your child’s lunch account to ensure there are no outstanding meal account balances and that the account contains sufficient funds for the remainder of the year.

As the weather gets warmer, it is important we remember
that Middleburgh Central School District has a dress code that
will be enforced.
While we are aware that there are different opinions
concerning the issue of student dress, the dress code was
established to create a more positive school environment,
reflective of the business of learning rather than current
fashion trends.

Students in Mrs. Colistra's Computer Applications class, created their own storybooks this year using Photoshop. The goal was to create a book for young children. MORE
Congratulations to the Varsity Girls' Track team, which took home first place honors at this past weekend's Marsh Galotta Track Invitational. In addition, Courtney Paser was selected the Outstanding Female Track athlete, Shania Marotta was selected the Outstanding Field Athlete, and Amanda Roney was selected the Outstanding Female Athlete. Led by Eli Wynia and Jeff Christensen, the boys made a solid fifth place finish. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped make the meet run.
Eleven eighth and ninth grade students
and three teachers, from Middleburgh Central School, opted to
give up a relaxing Spring Break for a week intensively
immersed in studying and speaking Spanish.
Congratulations to the Class of 2013 MCSD Co-Valedictorians Khrystyna Tsunyak and Nathaniel Wilkins and Salutatorian Alicia Jones. MORE
A number of local high school students enrolled at the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical School (Career & Tech) in Albany (Colonie) and Schoharie won events at the March 13 SkillsUSA Regional Competitions at Schenectady County Community College, bringing home 15 first place trophies, ten 2nds, eight 3rds, ten 4ths and three 5th place awards. Several students will go on to the New York State SkillsUSA competition April 24-26 in Syracuse. MORE
The choral groups of Middleburgh Central School will present the Music in Our Schools Month All Vocal Concert on Tuesday, March 19, 7:00, in the district auditorium. This year’s theme is “Honoring the Emancipation Proclamation”. The groups will perform songs from Africa or that originated in the African-American community. Special guests Kim and Reggie Harris will perform with the High School Choir through a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts as part of its Decentralization grants program. MORE

Congratulation to Jen Conklin's Division 3 team. The team placed first in the Odyssey of the Mind regional competition on March 3, 2013. The team will now compete in the State competition later in March. MORE
MCS Varsity Cheerleaders completed their season by coming
in first at the CDA Extreme Cheer Challenge. The team
performed a 2 ½ minute routine filled with cheer, dance, jumps
and stunts. The team competed against Charlottesville, Sharon
Springs and Hoosic Falls. Congratulations girls.

The Onistagrawan Chapter of the National Honor Society at Middleburgh Central High School held its annual induction ceremony on Thursday evening, January 31, 2013 in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m.. The fifteen students who were selected for membership this year excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, service and citizenship. MORE
Congratulations to MCS sophomores Emerald Power, Stacie
Peraldo, and Brittany Bodmer who were award certificates of
excellence for their essay and original art work submissions on
the topic of “Celebrating Local Leaders: Courage and Commitment
in the Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,”as part of the
Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series on
Race and Nonviolent Social Change sponsored by Sienna College.

Thanks to a generous donation from West Fulton Rod and Gun Club, a handful of High School students built American Kestrel boxes to aid in the wide kestrel decline, (Kestrels are a small falcon that nest near open grassy areas). The boxes will be placed around the school grounds and monitored by students to collect data for the American Kestrel Partnership Organization. MORE
The Regents exams will be administered from Tuesday, Jan. 22 through Friday, Jan. 25. There will be a regular schedule for the week, and those students taking Regents exams will be excused from their classes for that time period. MORE

On Thursday, Dec. 20, the members of the high school a cappella group "Music of the Knight" shared their gifts of music with the students at Wildwood School in Schenectady and with some of the patients at The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center. MORE

Middleburgh CSD Staff, students and families purchased Think Pink/MCS Knights shirts throughout the month of October from the Athletic Association to benefit Marathon for a Better Life. A check for $1,822.50 was recently presented from the school.
Senior students and parents are invited to attend Financial Aid Night on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 6:30pm. A representative from SUNY Cobleskill's Financial Aid Office will be here to discuss financial aid, work-study, grants, loans, and the FAFSA. This is a great opportunity to learn about the different aspects of financial aid. The presentation will be in the High School Library. If you have questions, please contact the HS Counseling Center at 827-3601.

21, 2012Students, staff and the community of MCSD came together to make sure all area families could enjoy a Thanksgiving Dinner. MORE
Congratulations to the music students who recently performed at the Zone 8 Area All State Festival at SUNY Oneonta on Nov. 16-17. The students were selected for this honor on the basis of their scores at a NYSSMA Solo Festival in the spring of 2012. The participating students and the ensembles in which they performed were: Amelia Petrosino, Concert Band; Thomas Birsen, Mixed Chorus; Arianna Crescimanno, Megan Kimball, Carissa Miller, and Lynnea Miller, Women’s Choir. All of the ensembles rehearsed with a guest conductor Friday afternoon and evening and all day Saturday, culminating in a concert at 3 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Hunt College Union. Students from Madison, Chenango, Delaware, and Schoharie Counties participated in this event.
Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), with the help of National Honor Society (NHS) members, are collecting donations to provide Thanksgiving meals to area families in need. MORE

All proceeds will help the MCS MS/HS PE Department raise at least $2,500 to fund flooring for the MS/HS weight room. Pledges can be per push-up or a lump sum. All contributions are tax-deductible.
